Looking at the specs the ID-52A doesn't appear to do AM modulation so though it covers the civilian airband frequency range it wouldnt properly modulate it, could be wrong...Harmonics are not a problem on those frequencies. The lack of AM modulation is, this radio can transmit in FM only. If you want to transmit on airband buy a proper airband radio.
