The rifle has only 3 digits in the serial number clearly stamped on the rear stock tang under the lever. The numbers are 590. These are the only numbers I can find on this rifle.

 
The Marlin records end in 1906 and around serial number 355,000. With barrel roll stamps and other info, besides just the serial number, there are folks here that will be able to pin a date of manufacture down to within a few years.. Logan parking

The Marlin 39AS ( the ones with the crossbolt safety) came out in the late 1980's. If that's the one you have your serial # dates to 1992.
